Membership? Anyone who is moved by dance 

daCi is an international organization for anyone interested or involved in the growth and development of dance for children and young people; Dance teachers, Dance groups, Artists, Researchers, Educators, Artistic directors, Choreographers, Dancers, Philanthropists. This includes public school teachers, administrators, policy makers, private dance studio personnel, associations, businesses, corporations as well as dance researchers and scholars. 

You may take out either an individual or group international membership, which entitles the member to one copy of the international communications and newsletter as well online access to the journal, Dance Education in Practice Children or youth group membership is available for dance schools, studios, dance companies or performance groups. Two adults per group are eligible for membership privileges (for instance, a reduced conference fee).

Organization membership is available for institutions/faculties/departments of higher education, professional associations, businesses and corporations. Five individuals per organization are eligible for membership privileges.

Membership types

There are three different types of daCi membership:

  • Individual- includes any individual who wants to join.  This entitles the member to one copy of the international communications and newsletter, and access to all online materials provided through the daCi website.

  • Group- includes dance schools, studios, dance companies or performance groups. Two adults per group are eligible for membership privileges (see Individual above).

  • Institutional- includes faculties in higher education, professional associations, businesses and corporations. Five individuals per organization are eligible for membership privileges (see Individual above).

  • Student memberships (for full time students) are $20 ($15 international fee and $5 national fee).

  • Pay-what-you-can memberships are available to individual members who cannot afford a full membership rate. These memberships are a minimum of $20 ($15 international and $5 national).

Fees

New members are encouraged to contact their national chapter regarding membership.  Membership fees are paid to your national chapter.  A portion of your national membership fee pays for your international membership. 

The current membership fees are as follows:

  • individual- $40.

  • group- $50.

  • institutional- $75.

Individual membership

Membership fees can be paid directly to the national representatives. An individual, group, or organization in a country without a national representative can pay membership fees directly by completing the membership form and sending it, together with the fee, to the international treasurer Norma Sue Fisher-Stitt at This email address is being protected from spambots. Benefits of daCi membership

  • Subscription to daCi in print, an electronic newsletter for international members, published twice a year as well as online access to the journal Dance Education in Practice.

  • Exclusive access to scholarship on dance for children and youth from the numerous daCi conferences via the daCi reader (in progress).

  • Reduced fees to attend daCi's international conference, held every three years. Conferences include research sessions, workshops, forums, keynote addresses, and a rich program of performances by and for children and young people ages birth to 18.

  • Eligibility to apply for daCi-sponsored grants and scholarships.

  • Opportunities to network with other individuals and international arts organizations interested in the development of dance for children and youth and to affirm the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, which recognizes the right of young people to participate freely in play, cultural life and the arts.
