Call by Young People for a New Culture of Peace in the minds of women and men for the 21st century

daCi organization is pleased to share the Call by Young People for a New Culture of Peace in the Minds of Women and Men for the 21st Century which was endorsed by UNESCO’s Executive Board at its 225th session in October. This document presents the outcomes of the consultation with the members of the 14th UNESCO Youth Forum undertaken between July and September 2026.

It was discussed in the framework of the UNESCO80 process, and shaped the Director-General’s Preliminary Proposals for the Draft Programme and Budget for 2028–2029 (44 C/5).

Developed through a youth-led consultation conducted between July and September 2026, the Call brings together the perspectives of 145 young leaders from 135 UNESCO Member States and Associate Members in a collective, youth-led reflection on the future of the Organization and the continued relevance of its mandate in the service of peace. It calls for meaningful youth participation in decision-making and renewed action across education, the sciences, culture, climate and digital technologies.

In their discussions during the Executive Board in October, UNESCO Member States reaffirmed their support for youth as a UNESCO priority group and recognized the essential role of young people’s voices and leadership in building peace. In its Decisions (paragraph 16(6)), the Executive Board requested that the recommendations outlined in the Call be taken into account in the strategic reflection and implementation of the UNESCO80 Roadmap
